Filmic Anthems for the Warmhearted

Travel With the Sun’s new album “Psycho” could be defined as the majestic soundtrack to an imaginary epic film. The band merges grandiose sophisticated instrumentals with vulnerable lyricism, creating a synthesis that brings the stadium sound of Imagine Dragons or Muse closer to heartwarming complicity with the listener.

Balancing heartbreaking catharsis with a welcoming sense of hope and inclusion, Travel With the Sun’s songwriting was appropriately described by American blog When the Wind Blows as “a high energy band who can also strip things back to reveal real heart. “

On one hand, we’re introduced to the band’s monumental instrumentation and production through stadium anthem tracks like “Psycho”, “Shine a Light” or “State of Insanity”. The latter features the most sophisticated instrumentals of the album, layering brass and strings under a choir that performs peculiar harmonic surprises.

Leaving behind the distant, abstract coolness of their inspiration sources, on the other hand, TWTS is also able to convey heartwarming emotion through the naked minimalism of songs like “Flaws”, or the comforting embrace of “We Hear You”.

Travel with the Sun started in 2014 as a jamming experiment in Ulricehamn. What sounded as pop punk/rock in the beginning evolved into more complex songwriting as the band’s members studied music production. They released their debut album “Twentyseventeen” in 2017.

A signing with Rexius Records followed that year, in addition to intensive recording sessions in preparation for the release of their singles “Dry Ink”, “Flaws” and “Reasons” earlier this year.

“Flaws” earned them a downpour of positive reception on blogs like LA On Lock and the addition to a broad selection of Spotify Editorials and user-curated playlists.

TWTS now releases its second long-play “Psycho” on the 1st of November, constituting the band’s most promising voyage through the European musical galaxy.
